Last November we had a real frolic in the Mount Vernon First Street Community Center. The Eddie Piccard Quintet was joined by the Busch Boys, and we took a musical trip to New Orleans. A great musical night!
And here’s what the cable programs call “Breaking News.” We’re going to do it again. The Busch Boys will join us in the Mount Vernon First Street Community Center April 29 for another round of Dixieland jazz. Same personnel as last time.
As these photos show, we had a great time at KCCK’s Jazz Under the Stars. Large and responsive crowd. A good night for jazz in Eastern Iowa.

Here’s to a good time on our last night at the Longbranch. Jazz filled the room. Good energy on the dance floor and on the bandstand. Viewers might note a touch of pride in the vibes-playing father of the drums-playing son.
Jim Hall, from Iowa City, is a self-taught musician who started very young. He was at first a drummer, working in a family band with his father (Hammond Organ) and his brother (trumpet).
