Great night last night (11/12).
The Kirkwood jazz program, under the direction of Joe Perea, put on a concert featuring various jazz combos and the big band. There were outstanding performances by several of the students.
Eddie Piccard appeared with one combo as pianist, playing “Take the A Train.”
Eddie was featured in the big band part of the program both as pianist and as vocalist. The band used the actual arrangements for many of the classic jazz tunes. Especially impressive: “All Right, Okay, You Win.” Joe Perea did a great arrangement of “River Stay Away from My Door,” a song particularly appropriate given the recent encounters between Cedar Rapids and the Cedar River.
